Hi, I’m Carley!
I’m a literacy consultant, instructional coach, and educator with over 25 years of experience focused on the complex, rewarding, and vital world of literacy education. Through my practice, Impact Literacy, I provide thoughtful professional development, collaborative instructional coaching, and individualized private instruction grounded in the Science of Reading.
All aspects of my work center around one goal: helping every student reach grade-level reading proficiency. Before starting my own business, I served as a district-level literacy coach, high school English teacher, and community college instructor. I’m passionate about empowering all students through the gift of literacy — especially those who’ve struggled.
I hold a Master’s in Secondary English Education and a B.A. in Comparative Literature — both from Vanderbilt University. When I’m not teaching or leading PD, you’ll usually find me enjoying life in Asheville, NC with my family—maybe even (on the best of days) curled up with a fabulous novel.
